Account Manager (5606-exempt)

Department: Electrical

Reports to: Director of Operations

Job Description

Summary/Objective: Actively builds client base, proactively sells company services, performs all functions of a PM for projects and accounts that do not have an assigned PM, and provides PM oversight for accounts or projects assigned to the Account Manager. Guides and directs assigned team of interns, project engineers, and assistant PMs. Contributes to functions and actions to build and enhance the company infrastructure, culture, and communication. Manages all aspects of assigned customers and prospects from getting the jobs, building client relationships, overseeing every project aspect and phase, and providing complete coordination and communication to all parties. Directs and trains team.

Essential Functions: 

Oversees all aspects of assigned accounts and all phases of managed projects, ensuring all details of a project are addressed, coordinated, and communicated. Develops opportunities, bids/quotes appropriate jobs, negotiates with clients, reviews POs and contracts, and bills projects in a timely manner. Oversees assigned Superintendents and Foreman on all projects to ensure that all safety rules are followed, workflow is coordinated and sequenced per resources and agreed upon timelines, all work is communicated and documented, that oversight is done on a consistent basis for adherence to contract/purchase order/change orders, blueprints, schematics, code, material order accuracy. Provides guidance to team to solve issues and resolve complaints. Works and effectively communicates with the customer, or general contractor, for project goals and deliverables. Trains assigned direct reports.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

Oversees Assistant PMs, Interns, Project Engineers, Superintendent and Foremen as appropriate on:

  • Overseeing and enforcing all safety rules and regulation
  • Directing project management
  • Reviews of team members
  • Ensuring communication effectiveness for the entire team
  • Promoting company culture

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Proactively build customer relationships and procurement of new projects
  • Develop assigned team members performance, knowledge, and skills for future roles as appropriate
  • Create and deliver presentations as required
  •  Manage overall financials for accounts
  • Review contracts with Director of Operations and document all contract requirements to enforce on projects
  • Estimate and bid on projects that meet company objectives
  • Review and accept projects and contracts with guidance from Operations Director 
  • Keep projects on budget, compliant and safe 
  • Oversee and manage project coordination and client deliverables
  • Coordinate material procurement and requisition needs
  • Establish workflows and sequences to ensure projects remain on track
  • Enforce safety regulations and foster a culture of workplace safety
  • Ensure effective communication and provide constructive guidance on a constant basis
  • Counsel direct reports and submit performance reviews in a timely manner 
  • Handle discipline, counseling, and terminations of personnel in conjunction with Human Resources per company policy

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Must be able to drive pickup truck
Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods per day
Must be able to sit and work on a computer for up to 4 hours per day
