Southwire | Maintenance Building Addition
Project Background
The Southwire maintenance department was located inside the plant, taking up valuable real estate for production equipment. A new addition was proposed to move it out of the production environment. RAPIER acted as the owners representative, handling all aspects of design, permitting, procurement, and construction phases while also self performing the electrical scope of the building.
Summary of Work
RAPIER oversaw the design and construction of an 18,000 sq ft metal building expansion for their maintenance department, including new offices, bathrooms, break-room and employee locker rooms. In addition to the new building, RAPIER oversaw the construction of a new chiller and cooling tower yard and new truck docks.
Many services were required to provide a completed and turn-key product. RAPIER managed the entire process from concept to completion, and oversaw each step of the process, including but not limited to:
- Civil work to prepare for foundations
- Foundation and concrete pads
- Steel building erection
- Interior finish-out of office and shop spaces
- Modification of existing structure to add roll up doors and dock levelers
- Exterior hardscape and landscape
- Permitting with the City of Denton
By acting as the owners representative, RAPIER provided a complete turn-key solution, allowing the client to focus on keeping the operation running efficiently throughout the entire process.
